Here’s what you need to know before you grab a copy of the Citrus Engine:
- You must have intermediate knowledge of ActionScript 3.0. The Level Architect allows you to visually organize and test your levels, but your game must still implement the Citrus Engine code API.
- You must have an IDE that allows you to develop Flash applications. You can use Adobe Flash, Adobe Flash Builder (AKA Flex Builder), or FlashDevelop. FlashDevelop is to download on Windows.
- Like all Flash applications, the Citrus Engine produces a SWF file (ready for the web) or an AIR file (ready for the desktop). The Citrus Engine cannot be deployed to other gaming consoles unless they implement Flash Player 9+.
